Although there are a lot of medical conditions that can affect your sexual performance, the majority of cases boils down to a mental problem. The problem is akin to insomnia. Anyone that has ever suffered from insomnia will testify to how “real” the problem is even though there aren’t any physical causes to it.

Premature ejaculation affects as many as 70% of the male population and more than any other male problem this one can really affect your self esteem. Like insomnia, premature ejaculation is a self reinforcing condition where the presence of the problem creates the problem.

This is where the performance anxiety comes from. The “fear” of not performing causes you to not perform. The more you fear it and the more you think about it the worse it gets. Since your ejaculation reflex is mostly controlled by your involuntary nervous system (like swallowing or coughing) that which you fear often happen. Even though medications can be helpful, the power of your nervous system is such that it can even override medication. This explains why premature ejaculation pills don’t always work and why creams and lotions only work for some.

So how do you overcome performance anxiety and how do you stop premature ejaculation? Well, on a very basic level you have to start your efforts in your own head. You need to get your head together and realize that the problem is NOT with you. It’s not a “medical” problem and it’s not a permanent problem.

Ejaculation is something over which you have complete control. You simply need to learn this control. Premature ejaculation is simply a case of you not yet knowing how to control this reflex in your body.

There are numerous exercises and techniques that you can use. I suggest you start by learning some practical techniques to help you immediately. This will help you last longer in bed almost immediately which will start to give you more confidence. Then, start practicing some of the mental techniques and some of the control techniques. Once you master them you can last for hours and have complete control.
